Idaho has a population of 1,430,100 people and its capitol is Boise. There are currently 6,375 people currently incarcerated in Idaho. The police will make roughly 8,940 arrests for drug charges and 6,775 for DUIs this year. There will be over 400 deaths that are from alcohol use and 85 will lose their lives from drug use.

 While methamphetamine is the most widely liked drug, it is falling in its availability due to law enforcement and new laws that make getting the chemicals used in making it hard to purchase. Cocaine is the most readily available and has lowered in price. Mexican cartels have been shipping cocaine from the border of Mexico and in to the states of California, Arizona and other southwest border states.

Marijuana is the most commonly used drug. While anyone can find marijuana that has been brought into Idaho from Mexico it is not commonly desired. In the northern part of the state marijuana from Canada (BC Bud) can be found but is normally intercepted at the border with people trying to smuggle it in to the state. If anyone in Idaho is found with less than 3oz. of marijuana on them at a time they are only looking at misdemeanor charges and with up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

In Idaho there are around 70,785 marijuana users, 31,000 people who are abusing prescription drugs, 11,600 people who are using some form of cocaine and 660 heroin addicts living in its state.
